On Thursday 4 July 2013 the Year 5 girls at NGHS put aside their normal school work and dedicated an entire day to the memory of Rose. Rose always loved singing and music.

Rose’s classmates had already written a whole book of poems and memories. Using these as a starting point, some of Rose’s closest friends spent the first two hours of the day writing the song lyrics and fitting them over the pre-recorded backing track. Whilst this was going on, talented musicians from the year group were recording their solo parts on the trombone, the violin, the electric guitar and plenty more. As the verses were being recorded with a small group of singers, the rest of Year 5 were busy putting together pieces of art celebrating the life of Rose. The girls decorated the newly-composed lyrics and used photos of Rose. You can see all of this lovely work in the final video. The afternoon was dedicated to the whole year recording of the chorus and bridge sections of the song. It had already been an incredible day and the girls were completely exhausted after all of their hard work. They went home to get ready for the fundraising disco for E38, where the song and video would be premiered that evening and the final edit was done. The work that Year 5 produced that day was a complete hit with all the girls and staff at the disco, and with many more since.
